Wiko Dormers

A photo-realistic dormer configurator for quote requests, including flexible sizing and maintainable price matrix.

Go Eve for Wiko

When making a big, special purchase, customers want to be sure that the product they have chosen is the right one. Such a purchase is a considered choice: you deliberately weigh up all the options. A personalised, almost tangible, product presentation gives the customer the confidence to make the right choice.

A 3D configurator provides this experience. Visually displaying all possible product combinations facilitates the selection process, so the customer will make a choice faster. Especially when the product is shown in the customer's personal environment and low-threshold advice can be requested from an expert.

Wiko's challenge: endless possibilities!

A 3D configurator provides this experience. Visually displaying all possible product combinations facilitates the selection process, so the customer will make a choice faster. Especially when the product is shown in the customer's personal environment and low-threshold advice can be requested from an expert.

Together with their digital consultant from FDTA, Wiko therefore sought a configurator that supports the customer in the purchasing process. In order to be able to support the many product options that Wiko offers visually. Here, it is important that the configurator is a high quality exudes: after all, the ultimate visual experience matches reality as closely as possible. A high-quality appearance requires a solid platform. Go Eve offers the solution.

What is Go Eve?

The flexible and headless e-commerce platform focused on product experience and configuration! The solid User Experience makes the platform user-friendly for the end user. But, also for you, as the selling party, the platform is easy to use. Go Eve's flexibility allows the seller to seamlessly tailor the platform to your business, with your own business rules. Read below how Go Eve is set up for Wiko.

3D configurator: photorealistic image

For Wiko, a photo-realistic representation of the dormer was very important: both the product and the background are therefore customisable. This way, the customer can recreate his or her own environment in the configurator. So you can be sure that the dormer will also look good on your roof!

To render the dormer as realistically as possible, the visual images are of high quality. Think of light, shadow, perspective and reflections. But also details in and around the house. This, combined with the complexity of the many design options, can make for a slow platform: something to be avoided! The solution turned out to be high-quality 2D layering. This means that the images in the configurator are designed in 3D, but the configuration itself is 2D. Therefore, you cannot rotate Wiko's configurator, but you can zoom in and out to view the dormer from a distance.

Business Manager: maintainable price matrix

Via the business manager, your business rules can be integrated into the product model. This allows you to set when certain presets or product properties are shown or not shown. In addition, everything is adjustable: changing prices or sales rules are easy to implement.

For Wiko, this flexibility is crucial. They operate in a market with rapidly changing purchase prices, which often depend on the size of the product. Thanks to the maintainable price matrix in the platform, all prices, which depend on the width and height of the product, can be quickly displayed visually in the configurator. Afterwards, the prices are directly visible in the quotation.

This maintainable price matrix could also be valuable for Wiko in the future: within Go Eve, it is possible to show different prices based on customer attributes. You can then set different prices your different customer segments. For example, property developers can order at a different rate than private customers.

Tech-talk: image-layering

A quality configurator works smoothly and quickly. But, with so many possible product options, how do you ensure that this does not compromise image quality or configuration speed? We like to think long-term, so a solution had to be found.

This solution turned out to be a method called "image layering". We stored the various dormer options all in separate images. By bringing individual elements (such as windows and roof frames) together in a generated image directly on the web server, it is not necessary to render all possible combinations in 3D views separately. The total number of images is therefore considerably reduced, which keeps the platform fast and offers a photo-realistic view.

Tech-talk: linked with own CMS

Wiko has their own CMS to manage their website. We therefore chose to place the configurator as an addition to their existing website. It is important that this addition connects to Wiko's current site: the end user should have the experience that he or she is working in one system.

Therefore, the platform displays the same header and design as on Wiko's website. Also, at the end, the platform navigates back to Wiko's website. It is therefore possible to add Go Eve to an existing website: it does not need to be redesigned!
